Current aid project: School in Iran for Afghan refugee children

Three million Afghans are already living in Iran in increasingly difficult circumstances as second-class people. They do not get a passport and are not allowed to purchase anything in their name.
The people in Iran have suffered from a strict international economic embargo for years. In addition, natural disasters keep coming, most recently the severe drought and now the pandemic. As always, the poor sections of the population are particularly affected. The US withdrawal from Afghanistan and the flight from the Taliban are now causing further flows of refugees.

In Isfahan, the notary Amir Shahed has founded a school for Afghan children who are not accepted into official Iranian schools.
They are called children of work. At six in the morning they are already on the treadmill. Thirteen hours a day they make bricks or they collect plastic and cardboard on the streets. Their parents allow them to attend school for a few hours three days a week. They should learn to read and write in order to then bring a little more money home as an errand boy or other auxiliary workers. At the moment, 170 pupils, mostly school beginners, are being taught under the direction of Mr. Shahed in five houses.

Avicenna would like to support him in building a second school for the many expected Afghan children. The planned school will have 20 classrooms on 690 square meters on four floors on the foundations of an old building. The first floor has already been concreted. The work to date has been financed by private donors. The first floor should be ready by September so that 120 students can already be taught. We hope that, like at Avicenna High School in Isfahan, more and more students will be able to complete their training here. Thanks to the rate of inflation, we can achieve a lot with Western foreign exchange that we pass on to the school privately. Our first goal is to finance the next floor, for which we also collect donations at Betterplace. Please help to give these children a better future.
